2006 Theatre BC Festival Entry

"Footprints on the Moon", produced by Mary Renvall and Angela Bell, centres around a woman's attempt to prevent her teenage daughter from leaving home.

Directed by Kristina Willing, this is a sensitive portrayal of a woman's self discovery as she struggles to understand the loves and losses that have shaped her life.  Strong confrontations counterbalanced by warm emotional scenes and humour make this a show not to miss!

Set in the prairie town of Rose Coulee, the story follows Joanie (Gayle Grant). Joanie is the original "small town girl". She takes great pride in her home town, where she has raised her daughter as a single mother. She has been separated from her husband for 13 years.

Dunc (Peter Cowhig) is the on again/off again man in Joanie's life. He is a confirmed bachelor, and well known in town as a womanizer.

Carol-Ann (Chelsea DeVos) is Joanie's 16 year old daughter, a spirited girl who wants to live with her father in the big city of Toronto. She is bored with her small home town, and dreams of something more...

Beryl (Angela Bell) is the town barmaid - a fun loving, chocolate eating, goodtime girl, and Joanie's life-long best friend. Beryl has always been there for Joanie, through all her ups and downs. Nobody knows Joanie better, or loves her more.

Boone (Greg Bishop) is Carol-Ann's beloved father, and Joanie's ex-husband. Boone represents another of the many disappointments, and losses, of Joanie's life - and 13 years later she still harbours resentment towards his having left her.

A must see that reminds us of the strength of a mother's love, and the importance of loving yourself. This emotional and at times heartbreaking story is sure to touch us all.
